William O Easton, Jr.

December 11, 2012 - December 11, 2012

Date of Notice: Tuesday, December 11, 2012; Burlington County Times, Atlantic City Press William O. Easton, Jr., 73, of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children. Born in Harrisburg, PA, to the late William O. Sr., and Margaret Easton. He graduated from Middletown High School, Class of 58 and soon found his true calling, troubleshooting electronics. He joined IBM in 1962 for what would become a distinguished 30 year career. Computers were his passion; his favorite assignment was Princeton University's mainframe which at the time was the world's most powerful computer. He received many IBM Service Awards including the National Service Division's President's Award for his work on replacing the FAA's aging air traffic control system. After retirement from IBM he started Easton Aviation Consulting and continued to work on Air Traffic Control Systems for the American and British governments for the next 20 years. He also used those same systems regularly as he flew himself back and forth to work daily in his 1965 Mooney airplane. A truly good man, he will be remembered for his quick wit and great sense of humor and for being a warm and kind father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will forever be sadly missed by his family; children, daughter Kim (Easton), husband Jay Ewasko, daughter Terri (Easton), husband Tom Schad, his best friend and son, Craig William, wife Kim (Alexicko) Easton. He was the most proud grandfather to Erin Ewasko, Shannon Ewasko, Rachel Schad, Jonathan Schad and Taylor Schad all of whom will carry on his love of gathering with family at Thanksgiving and Christmas. Bill was the loving big brother to Peggy Easton and Amy (Easton), husband Dr. Thomas Worgul. Special thanks to Doctor Malone and the entire staff at Virtua Marlton Hospital, A+ Senior Care, Compassionate Care Hospice for the superior care they gave our father in his last days. His final three months were full of laughter, joy and tears; we were so blessed to call him Dad. Visitations will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, from 6-8 PM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main Street, Medford, NJ, and Wednesday, December 12, 2012, 10-11 AM, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Rt 537/910 Marne Highway, Hainesport, NJ. Prayer services will follow on Wednesday at 11 AM, at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Childfund International.
