Shirley Blinn

April 9, 2017 - April 9, 2017

Peacefully in the early morning hours of April 9th, Palm Sunday, Shirley (Shipman) Blinn, of Columbus, passed away at home. She was 86. Predeceased by her parents, Tom Shipman and Ethna (Kirk) Shipman, her brother, Victor, and son-in-law Charles Hovemeyer, Ms. Blinn is survived by her sister, Ann Terry Schneider and her husband Jack of Rochester, NY, her four children: daughter Deborah Phares Haydon and her husband, Terry of Lancaster, VA; daughter Terry Rideout of Macon, GA; son Raymond Blinn of Burlington and daughter Susanne Hovemeyer of Columbus, and 8 grandchildren,14 great-grandchildren, 2 nephews of NY, her very best, long-time friend Carol Newman of Wrightstown, her companion Eugene Fagan, and her rescued pit bull mix and constant companion, Chloe. Ms Blinn retired as a bus driver from Northern Burlington County Regional High School in Columbus and as a sort facility supervisor for the US Postal Service in Belmawr. She also drove a school bus for Jersey Bus after retiring from the Postal Service. She enjoyed camping and spending time with her family. She was also very proud of her short military career in the Army during the Korean War. She will be laid to rest with her family in upstate New York. Memorial contributions can be made to Samaritan Hospice, who took wonderful care of our mother in her final days at home, online at https://www.samaritannj.org/giving/memorial-gifts OR the Burlington County Animal Shelter, 35 Academy Drive, Westampton, NJ 08060.
