Date of Notice: Sunday, June 22, 2014; Courier Post, Times Leader, Citizens Voice Raymond Piavis, 84, of Medford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2014, at the Medford Care Center. Born in Nanticoke, PA, Raymond resided in Medford, NJ for over 53 years. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran serving during the Korean War. Raymond received his associates degree from Rutgers University. He was a master gardener, and belonged to the Rutgers Cooperative, the extension service and the Camden County Growers Association. Raymond was a former member of the Christmas Tree Growers Association and the N.J. Vegetable Growers Association. He also enjoyed the outdoors including hunting and fishing with the Buck Hunter's Club in New York and Maine. Husband of the late Bernice Maxine Piavis; brother of the late George, Walter, Jr. and Bernard Piavis, and Doris Orr; he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert W., Sr., and Patricia Piavis; his sister, Florence Piavis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ.
