Patrick A. Looney Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Patrick A. Looney, 75, of Browns Mills, N.J., passed away peacefully on Friday, June 10, 2022, at home while being held by his wife Beth. Patrick "Pop Loon" Looney was a legend in life and continues to be in the beyond. Born in 1947 in Woodbury N.J., Pat was the youngest of three siblings. Patrick and Elizabeth met in Glassboro in 1967 at a dinner party where Pat asked Beth to accompany him to a wedding and the rest, as they say, is history. He and Beth had three children: Kerry B., Kevin, and Michael; all of whom are his pride and joy. The births of his four grandchildren were some of the happiest and proudest moments of his life. Pat's military career with the United States Army began withhim stationed in Germany and ended with holding the rank of Chief Warrant Office 3. As a civilian, he served as the Casualty Mortuary Officer on Fort Dix and went on to hold the position of Director of Military Honors at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Military Cemetery. He was also a volunteer firefighter in Perth Amboy for the McClellanEngine Company #3. Pat loved the Philadelphia Eagles and Phillies. He would often lead the E-A-G-L-E-S chantduring gametime. One of his claims to fame was during a Janis Joplin concert at the Electric Factory where Janis herself had some choice words for Pat. Patrick loved playing golf and got his start as a short order cook and caddy at the Pitman Country Club. He loved coaching his sons in P.A.A.L baseball which afforded him to make and keep lasting friendships. His favorite place for dinner was the Red Lion Inn – his own Dad would even take him there as a child. "Macht Nichts" Dadden. Patrick is predeceased by his parents Albert and Mary Looney; in laws Winfield and Anne Nichols; brother Gerry; and sister Eileen. He is survived by his loving and saintly wife of 51 years, Elizabeth Anne; daughter Kerry B.; son Kevin (Melissa);son Michael (Devon); grandchildren Kieran, Audrey, Cole, and Ryan. Pat is also survived by two nephews, three great nephews, three great nieces, and one great-great niece. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday, June 20, 2022, from 10:30A.M. until12:00P.M. at the Moore Funeral Home, 371 Lakehurst Rd., Browns Mills, N.J. Funeral services will follow at 12:00P.M. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown, N.J. Flowers are welcome and donations may also be made in Patrick's memory to Samaritan Hospice of South Jersey or The Popcorn Park Zoo.
