Date of Notice: Sunday, August 21, 2011 Monday, August 22, 2011; Burlington County Times, Courier Post Myra J. Hyland, born in New York City, on May 12, 1911, was a resident of the Lake Pine section of Medford, NJ, since 1955, where she was a member and former officer of the Colony Club, as well as a civic representative and director of Children's Summer Recreation Program for a number of years. She was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Lakes Church, and a member and former president of the Daughters of St. Therese Prayer Group. Also, she was a former member and officer St. Mary's P.T.A. Mrs. Hyland was a volunteer worker for Catholic Charities for several years, where she organized and directed a corps of woman volunteer drivers, who provided transportation for clients of the Bureau, as well as, for a number of programs throughout Burlington County, such as, the Bureau of Children's Services, Cerebral Palsy, and Mental Health Centers. She was a sports enthusiast and was an active member of Little Mill Country Club and Arrowhead Tennis Club. She was the widow of William J. and is survived by their son, Thomas J. and daughter, Susan J. August, grandsons, Michael Hyland and Jack August, great grandchildren, Mackenzie and Logan Hyland. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, August 22, 2011, from 6-9PM, and again on Tuesday, August 23, from 9-10AM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, (609) 654-2439. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30AM, at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Hainesport, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Myra's memory to St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford, 08055; or to a charity of your choice.
