Shannahan, 87, lifelong resident of Medford Lakes, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2014, at Virtua W. Jersey Hospital, Marlton, NJ. Born in Everett, MA, Mary was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church in Medford. She was a volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, and was the Financial Secretary for the Medford Lakes Emergency Squad. Mary was an avid golfer who was a member of the Medford Lakes Country Club and their 18 holes woman's golf group. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Wife of the late Francis J. Shannahan; she is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Margaret "Peggy" Kantner-Mayo and David Mayo, Kathleen Shannahan and Hans Roemer, and Brian and Marilyn Shannahan; six grandchildren, Michael (Laura), Christopher (Diana), Kevin, Courtney (Jack), Brendan and Kelsey (Mike); five great grandchildren, Alyssa, Claudia, Leila, Isabella and Luke Francis; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, September 25, 2014, from 6-8PM, and again on Friday, September 26, from 9-10AM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30AM, at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford. Interment will be held privately for the family in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mary's memory to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Jones Rd., P.O. Box 1131, Medford, NJ 08055; or to the New England Village, Inc., 664 School St, Pembroke, MA 02359.
