Marie H. Wilson

May 24, 1937 - September 8, 2017

Marie H. Wilson (nee Hackett), 80, of Medford, NJ, and formerly of Linwood, NJ, passed away peacefully at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice on Friday, September 8, 2017. She was predeceased by her parents, Anna Marie Raulston Hackett and Ralph Hackett, Jr. Marie will be forever remembered by her two loving children, Mariea Lynne and Lisa Ann, her adored grandchildren, Chelsea Marie Moss and Olivia Lee Sbrocco, and her husband of 60 years, Edwin, who misses her desperately. Marie had a lively and interesting life, after working to support Edwin in his journey in Philadelphia and elsewhere through medical school and residency during the early years of their marriage. After settling down for good in New Jersey, she became the devoted mother to her children, and a dedicated and wonderful grandmother to her namesake, Chelsea Marie and to Olivia Lee, both of whom she adored beyond description. Her later life was full with among other things, overseas travel to London, as well as the wonders of travel to unique venues at horse shows to support the equestrian pursuits of those grandchildren in places like Wellington, Florida, the unique Hamptons on Long Island, beautiful Lake Placid in New York, and Calgary, Canada. Her illness in the last year of her life restricted her travel, but, in this wondrous electronic age, fortunately she never missed one of their shows by using live stream broadcasts from those events. She lived through and loved those times more than anyone will ever know. Her last days at home when she was so sick were spent sorting and saving for posterity those fading but treasured black and white photos from her youth in Bargaintown and Linwood of her nuclear family, and especially those of her father, Ralph, who she adored. She often said that she sorely missed those never to be held conversations with her beautiful mother, Marie, who passed away at a very early age from leukemia. Our memories will always be of that vivacious, beautiful and popular high school girl who first captivated her husband-to-be to the sounds of the Bob Chester Band at those nineteen-fifties Friday Night Dances at the old Pleasantville High School, that happy and beautiful lady frolicking on the beach in Ocean City and Harvey Cedars with her children, the more mature and beautiful elegant runway model for those various charity events she supported during her middle years, and the adoring grandmother with whom I was privileged to grow old with, and who we will all miss desperately. As she requested, her interment will be private, and in lieu of flowers, please consider donations in her name to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Dr., Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Mathis Funeral Home, Medford, NJ.
