Leroy Wilkins

Leroy Wilkins Sr. of Pemberton passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. He was 74. Born in New York, N.Y., Leroy was a longtime resident of Pemberton Township. He was a graduate of University of Nebraska with a Bachelor's degree, and from Golden Gate University with a Master's in Business Administration. He was a retired captain from the U.S. Air Force. During his time in the Air Force, he was awarded many medals and commendations; one of them being the Distinguished Flying Cross. After retiring from the Air Force, he received his Real Estate license and was employed by Century 21. He was a former member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 6805 in Pemberton, American Legion, National Order of the Trench Rats, Dugout 490, and was past commander of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 27. He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Wilkins of Pemberton Township; one son, Leroy Wilkins Jr. of Edison, N.J., three daughters and one son-in-law, Joyce A. Wilkins of Pemberton Township, Carrie O. Harris (Maricio) of Tulsa, Okla., and Mary I. Wilkins of Pemberton Township; three grandchildren, Maricio N., Richard and Alexandria. Relatives and friends may greet the family from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, June 13, at Moore Funeral Home, 371 Lakehurst Road, Browns Mills, where funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Province Line Road, Arneytown. Donations may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 508 Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
