Kim O. McDowel

Kim O. McDowel, 68, of the LeisureTowne section of Southampton, NJ, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2022. Born in Camden, NJ, Kim lived in South Jersey his entire life. He grew up in Medford where he graduated from Lenape High School. He built a home and started his family in Tabernacle. He resided in Maple Shade for many years and retired in Southampton. Kim was a Chief Lineman for 33 years at Public Service Electric and Gas Co., PSE&G, Southern Division. Prior to working at PSE&G he was the owner of American Masonry Inc. Kim was a skilled mason who enjoyed building brick and stone fireplaces. He took great pride in his mechanical aptitude and working with his hands. Kim was most happy at his Camp in Degrasse, NY where he enjoyed the outdoors with friends and family. Besides building and fixing things Kim’s hobbies included; big game hunting in the North Country of NY, cooking, gardening, reading about history and researching family genealogy. He was an avid collector of military, WWII, Scottish and British memorabilia to name a few subjects of interest. He is survived by his three sons, Eric O. McDowel (Mindy), Sean W. McDowel, and Ian M. McDowel (Lisen); six grandchildren, Lydia, Owen, Jack, Macy, Raelynn and Cole, his partner, Denise (Dennie) Mathis Brick, and second wife, Joanne McDowel. He was predeceased by first wife and mother of his children, Virginia (Gini) Massey McDowel and his sister, Bernice Jane McDowel. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Saturday, April 23, 2022, from 10AM to 12PM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main Street, Medford, NJ. Funeral services will follow at 12PM, at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
