Date of Notice: Sunday, July 20, 2014; Courier Post, Bergen Record. John H. Murray, of Marlton, passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2014, at home. Born in Genoa, NY, John resided in Ridgefield Park before moving to Marlton in 1989. He retired as a letter carrier for the Ridgefield Park Post Office after 35 years of service. John was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, the Holy Name Society of St. Francis in Ridgefield Park, NJ, and the American Legion Post 64. He was a parishioner at St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church in Marlton. Husband of the late Dorothy M. Murray; grandfather of the late Jeffrey Burstein; father-in-law of the late, Donald Burstein; he is survived by his daughters, Ellen Burstein of Bayville, NJ, and Colleen Finnegan (James) of Flemington, NJ; his son, Kevin Murray (Nadine) of Oak Ridge, NJ; his brother, Paul Murray; five grandchildren, Shaun Burstein (Linette), Erin and Megan Murray, and Rory and Jamie Finnegan; two great grandchildren, Kenzie and Callan Burstein; and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, July 21, 2014, from 4-7PM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 22, at 10:30AM, at St. Joan of Arc R.C. Church, 100 Willow Bend Rd., Marlton, NJ. Interment will be held privately on Wednesday in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's memory to his grandson's memorial scholarship fund, The Jeffrey Burstein Memorial Scholarship Fund, 90 Butler Ave., Bayville, NJ 08721.
