Date of Notice: Thursday, April 5, 2012; Burlington County Times Eugene Robert Barbetta, 77, of the Leisuretowne section of Southampton, passed away Tuesday, April 3, 2012, at Samaritan Inpatient Hospice, Mt. Holly. Born in Philadelphia, PA, Eugene resided in N.E. Philadelphia most of his life, before moving to Leisuretowne ten years ago. He was a devout Catholic, and was a parishioner at the Church of the Holy Eucharist in Tabernacle. A U.S. Army veteran, Eugene was a member of the V.A. in Leisuretowne. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Philadelphia in 1992. Eugene enjoyed history, classic movies, big band music and was an avid Phillies fan. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Egidia "Gi Gi" (nee Pancera) Barbetta; his three children, Michael and Kathy Barbetta of Cinnaminson, Joan (and William) Brown of Deptford, and John Barbetta and Shayna Riddle of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Thomas Barbetta, and William, Jr. and Jacqueline Brown; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Relatives and friends may call on Monday, April 9, 2012, from 9:30-10:30AM, at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, at 10:30AM, at the church. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, N. Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Eugene's memory to the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle, NJ 08088.
