Elsie Benejan Simpkins

January 2, 2015 - January 2, 2015

On January 2, 2015, Elsie Benejan Simpkins, eldest daughter of Frank Gomez Benejan and Carmen Maria Sein, exchanged this life for eternal life. On September 27, 1947 Elsie made her entrance into the world. She was born and raised in El Barrio, New York City. Although Elsie is gone too soon, she made her indelible mark on the world and in the lives of her family. Elsie served and protected her country during the Viet Nam Conflict and would later continue her service to others for 25 years at the Mercer County Board of Social Services. Elsie met and married Charles "Chuck" Paul Simpkins in Spokane, Washington in 1969. Elsie's love of family beckoned her home in NJ. Elsie and Chuck extended their family with the addition of their two sons, Christopher Brian and Shawn Paul. Elsie's love for her family and adventure were palpable and lent to her unique and eclectic approach to life. Anyone who knew her knows that Elsie was often the Life of the Party! She loved to laugh, have fun, and would burst out in dance spontaneously. Elsie loved the majestic and royal color of purple. She would throw on a purple tee shirt or sweatshirt to engage in her passions for golfing and fishing. But by far, her most favorite pastime was travel. Those which were fortunate enough to travel with her experienced her vibrancy each and every time. Who could forget the time during a family cruise when Elsie's zest for life had everyone in the ballroom laughing and dancing! Elsie is now joined with her beloved, predeceased brother, Frank Benejan. Her sons, Christopher Brian (Deborah) and Shaun Paul (Melynda); grandsons Ryan, Brenden, Tyler, and Dylon; parents Frank and Carmen; siblings Richard, Liliam, Bernice, Benedicto, Frankie and Rodney; nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws, and friends continue on to bear witness to the memories, kindness and generosity of Elsie. Elsie is missed. Always remembered. Always Loved. Watch Video Tribute
