Eleanor Foster Shover

Newspaper: Courier Post 1x Wednesday May 28, 2014 Eleanor Foster Shover, 99, most recently of Treadwell, NY and formerly of Medford, NJ, passed away on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at the AO Fox Nursing Home. She was born on August 28, 1914 in Pennsauken Twp, NJ, the daughter of Edgar and Anna (Workman) Blaker. She married Newell E. Shover on May 30, 1936 in Riverside, NJ, and he predeceased her in 1984. Eleanor graduated from Mt. Holly High School. She was a great cook and enjoyed canning food from the garden. She was an LPN, and worked at Mt. Holly Hospital for several years, and then at Willey Mission in Marlton, NJ. Eleanor lived several years at Old Marlton Pike in a farmhouse in which her husband was born and where he died. Upon his passing, she moved to Voorhees, NJ, and resided there until moving to New York several years ago to live with her daughter and son-in-law. For several months, she resided at the Hampshire House before for moving to AO Fox Nursing Home. The family would like to thank the Hampshire House, AO Fox Nursing Home, and Rachel from the Catskill Area Hospice for the loving care given to her during her illness. She is survived by her daughters, Ann Elder of Gloucester City, NJ and Irene Shivers of Treadwell, NY; four grandchildren, Emerson Shivers, Jr., Joseph Shivers, and his wife Meg, Ann Louise Elder and Harvey Elder Jr; five great grandchildren, Neil, Mathew, and Brittany McBride, and Meredith and Joshua Shivers, as well as several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sons-in-law, Harvey Elder, Sr, and Emerson Shivers, Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday May 31, 2014 at 11AM at Park View Cemetery in historic Medford Village, between Coate and Filbert Streets. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 1 Birchwood Dr., Oneonta, NY 13820. Arrangements are under the direction of, and have been entrusted to, Mathis Funeral Home, Medford, NJ.
