Date of Notice: Sunday, February 10, 2013; Burlington County Times, Trenton Times. Edward E. Tornquist, 85, of Country Lakes passed away on Friday, February 8, 2013 in peace and at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a former resident of Griggstown, Crosswicks, and Chesterfield before moving to Country Lakes 23 years ago. Edward was a Veteran of WWII having proudly served his country with the US Navy. He founded Van Pool of NJ, where he was employed until retirement in 1989. From a decision he made at a Billy Graham Crusade in 1957, he followed his Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. In 2006 Edward ran for Mayor of Pemberton on the Independent Ballot. His campaign platform was "Fore Pemberton Pride." Edward was a tremendous trumpet player with the voice of a star and was an athlete with professional ability. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be sadly missed by all. Son of the late Nils Edward and Rose Tornquist, brother of the late Dorothy Burgess; he is survived by his wife Lillian of 58 years; his children Bonnie Schaaf (Benjamin), Mark Tornquist (Debbie), Barry Tornquist (Jennifer) Sheri Greene (William), Jill Tornquist and Holly Tornquist; 7 grandchildren Jeremiah, Eddie, Jessica, Tina, Emily, Bria and Victoria, 9 great-grandchildren; brother Richard Tornquist and sister Donna Kocsis, several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends can call on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 10-12 Noon at Whiting Assembly of God, 83 Lacy Road, Whiting, NJ 08759. A funeral service will follow at 12 Noon. Interment will follow at Brigadier General Wm C Doyle Veterans Cemetery, N. Hanover, NJ. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to MJAA Box 274 Springfield, PA 19064 or Whitesbog Preservation Trust 120 W. Whitesbog Road Browns Mills, NJ 08015 Arrangements are under the direction of the Moore Funeral Home, Browns Mills, NJ.
