Catherine Jedynak Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Catherine Jedynak, 99, formerly of Trenton, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the Wiley Mission Home for the aged in Marlton, NJ. The first of five children, she enjoyed learning and was the only one in her family to graduate from college. After graduation from Douglas College, she gravitated to a responsible position as Principle Bacteriologist for the State Department of Health. She spent many years in training and education at the CDC and brought this new knowledge back to our state where she was instrumental in implementing new methods. She has been retired for over 40 years. Her interests were many, but books and reading topped the list. She maintained a varied list of periodicals as well. Catherine is well known at the Hopewell Branch of the Mercer County Library. She built her home, landscaped the grounds herself, and furnished the interior in appealing fashion. Cooking became second nature through the years, and she has delighted people in various settings with special desserts. Catherine has been there for many people as they journeyed through life. Family members and acquaintances have reaped the benefits of her ministrations. She has been a loving friend, sister, aunt and great aunt. She had a zest for life with unparalleled joy, even on a rainy day! She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Judith Kiernan (Patrick) of Medford, NJ, Christine Talbot (Edward) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ, Barbara Ciosek of Ewing, NJ, Kenneth Schiller of Bedford, TX, Richard Jedynak of Mooresville, NC; and several great nieces and nephews. Interment will be held privately in Holy Cross Cemetery, Trenton, NJ. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church in Medford at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Wiley Mission Home, 99 E. Main St., Marlton, NJ 08053. Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Mathis Funeral Home, Medford, NJ.
