Date of Notice: Thursday, October 24, 2013, Courier Post ? WITH PICTURE Bernard Joseph McMullen, 80, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at Virtua W. Jersey Hospital, Berlin, NJ. Born in Cherry Hill, NJ, Bernard resided in Marlton most of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran, who served during the Korean War. Bernard was one of the first police officers for Evesham Township. He worked for over 25 years for J. Wittman & Sons HVAC in Moorestown. He went on to become a supervisor for Shamrock HVAC in Vincentown. Bernard was a member of both the VFW and Jaycees in Marlton. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elizabeth A. (nee Hofbauer) McMullen; three daughters and a son-in-law, Dawn and Steven Eberhardt of Egg Harbor Twp., Dana Gowdy of Cape Coral, FL, and Cara McMullen of Marlton; five grandchildren, Brandon, Shannon, Marisa, Britney and Nate; a great-granddaughter on the way, Emily Elizabeth; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Francis and Janet McMullen, Daniel and Linda McMullen, and James and Bernadette McMullen; five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Bednarczyk, Margaret and John Assenheimer, Patricia and Fred Rodi, Agnes and Wayne Morris, and Kathleen and James Feeley; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Betty Hofbauer and Loretta Coneby; and numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday, October 27, 2013, from 6-8PM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ. The viewing will continue on Monday, October 28, from 10-11AM, at the Church of the Holy Eucharist, 520 Medford Lakes Rd., Tabernacle, NJ. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11AM, at the church. Interment will be in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bernard's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Watch Video Tribute
