Date of Notice: Tuesday, October 23, 2012; Burlington County Times, Courier Post, Central Record, Old Colony Memorial Allen Henry Wirzburger (Commander USN Ret.), 70, of Medford, NJ, passed away Monday, October 22, 2012. Born in Plymouth, MA, he graduated from Plymouth High School, and received his bachelor's degree from MIT. He then received his Masters Degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. Allen retired from a naval engineering career during which he served on various ships, mostly aircraft carriers in engineering control rooms. He also supervised carrier overhauls in shipyards. After retirement, he was a consultant to the Navy on many of the same class ships on which he had previously served, supervising and writing manuals for repair work on naval vessels. Son of the late Henry P. and Lucy (nee Stefani) Wirzburger; he is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Mary Elena (nee Guidoboni) Wirzburger; his children and their spouses, Thomas Wirzburger (Kellyanne), Heidi Curtis (David), John Wirzburger (Melissa), Joseph Wirzburger (Erin), and Elena Robinson (Jessi); six grandchildren, Nicole and Brandon Wirzburger, Katherine, Justin and Tyler Curtis, and Evan Wirzburger; his brother and sister-in-law, Stephen and Susan Wirzburger; and one nephew, Michael Wirzburger. Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, October 25, 2012, from 6-8PM, and again on Friday, October 26, from 9-10AM, at the Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10:30AM, at St. Mary of the Lakes R.C. Church, 40 Jackson Rd., Medford. Interment will be held in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne, MA.
