Gertrude V. Allen, 82, of Medford, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2006 at home.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was a resident of Rosedale, NY, before moving to Medford 41 years ago.  She retired from the Defense Supply Depot, where she was employed as an Accountant for many years.  Gertrude was a parishioner at St. Mary of the Lakes RCC.  Some of her hobbies included square dancing. She belonged to several groups including the Grand Squares, Jolly Eights, Jack and Jill’s, Wagon Wheels, and the Step Steppers.  Gertrude volunteered countless hours for the St. Vincent DePaul Society and local soup kitchens.  She enjoyed doing arts and crafts.

She is survived by her husband James Allen; two brothers, John Smith of Virginia and Jimmy Smith of Brooklyn, NY; one sister Mary-Jo Quinn of North Jersey; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at 10:30AM at St. Mary of the lakes RCC, 40 Jackson Road, Medford, NJ 08055.  There will be no calling hours.

Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Fox Chase Cancer Center (Address) or to the Deborah Hospital Foundation, 212, Trenton Road, Browns Mills, NJ 08015.
