John Abrams, 85, Tabernacle, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2006, at home, following a long illness.

John was born in Indian Mills, the sixth of fourteen children of Raymond and Lillian (Taylor) Abrams. He grew up on his family’s farm, gaining knowledge that he would put to use in his adult life on his own farm. In 1945, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served until late 1946. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Grace Bozearth. In 1960, after the birth of their two sons, Harold and John Jr., the family moved to Tabernacle, to the farm where he would live and work the remainder of his days.

Even in an occupation where hard work is a given, his work ethic was noteworthy, as was his character and honesty. He was a trusted business partner, a valued friend, and a beloved husband, father and grandfather. In the winter, he enjoyed deer hunting with the Fritz Miller Gun Club. He was highly respected both for his personality and his skill with the rifle.

In addition to his wife and two sons, he is survived by his brothers, Ralph and Eugene, his grandchildren, Douglas, Jesse, Jenny, Tyler, Grace, Emily, Harold, Samuel, Donna, and Lillian, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call on Saturday, March 18, 2006, from 2-3 PM, at the
Mathis Funeral Home, 58 N. Main St., Medford, (609) 654-2439. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Junior Mechanics Cemetery, Tabernacle.
